How angelic is a sleeping baby? I could watch them for hours. This little one was asleep when I arrived. Luckily he woke up with a beautiful smile on his face.

This beautiful little man just wasn’t going to be in it the first time I came to photograph this family. We got a few frames in and he told us in no uncertain terms that he did not want to be photographed. A couple of weeks later and he had changed his mind and we had a delightful time with lots of smiles, hugs and two adoring parents.

I photographed this little man a few weeks ago. I had a lovely time playing in the back yard with him and his Mum (who was initially a bit hesitant to be in the photos but I am so glad she decided to join in because the images are beautiful). Thank you for a fun morning. xox

What a great job I have. So many wonderful images so hard to choose (if I do say so myself). This couple were so gentle and caring towards each other and their two gorgeous children. Both are school teachers and he is also a talented artist. A tiny snippet of his work is below however there were so many beautiful pieces on their walls. My philosophy on photographing families is simple. Choose a location that they feel comfortable in (most often their home), take the time for us all to relax and allow them to be who they are. I do not give too many instructions beforehand generally something like perhaps tidy the house a little but do not get too worried about it being spotless and wear what you feel comfortable in. Simple.

This beautiful family were the epitome of relaxed. I was greeted at the door with “sorry we did not have time to tidy up” and “I hope my clothes are fine because I don’t want to get changed.” They had also been to the local fete in the morning and their 8 year old had a beautiful array of coloured stripes through her hair. Just beautiful.

Some of us take a little time to get here. This beautiful little one was 6 years in the making and her parents had an amazing journey to bring her into the world.

She was helped to come into this world by Jan Jamieson. Jan is a Canberra based Chinese doctor who has a gift for assisting couples to have babies. I have been working on a project with her documenting these beautiful, magical babies. We are working on a book so that other couples may keep the hope going on their journey to have a family. Each story is inspiring and unique. Some babies are created using a combination of traditional chinese medicine and western medicine while others came into the world with Jan’s magical touch when western medicine had given up.

I am truly blessed to do what I do. I feel so hounoured to be invited into peoples lives and learn about their stories. Thank you Katherine and Stephen for sharing your story. And thank you to Jan whose gifts inspired us to start this project.
